Malaysia is the number one destination for honeymooners from Pakistan. Being a Muslim country Malaysia caters to a large number of visitors from across the world. A major chunk of these travellers to Malaysia includes family travellers and honeymooners from the Middle East and other Muslim countries. Cheap accommodation, a wide range of amazing destinations, excellent shopping and safety are some of the major reasons for choosing Malaysia for travelling. Most visitors from Pakistan spend an average of five to seven nights in Malaysia. Here are my recommendations for practical travel itineraries for honeymooners in Malaysia in the coming year.
Itinerary 1 | Itinerary 2 | Itinerary 3 | Itinerary 4
Itinerary No1: Three Nights in Kuala Lumpur and Two nights in Langkawi Islands
This is probably one of the most popular travel itineraries for most honeymooners as it gives the best of city experiences as well as Island adventure. Kuala Lumpur is the starting point of most tours as KL is the port of arrival for international flights. With a great mix of shopping, historical places to visit, theme parks and exotic dining experiences, Kuala Lumpur is an unmissable city for honeymooners.
Best things to do in Kuala Lumpur?
Book a romantic dinner at one of the popular restaurants with city views. Cantaloupe at Troika Sky Dining, Thirty8 Restaurant Bar & Lounge and Sky Bar are some of the popular restaurants in five-star hotels in KLCC ( Kuala Lumpur City Center). Other remarkable places include Sky Lobby at Grand Hyatt in KLCC and the Rooftop Bar at Tiger Bay. The choices are endless.
By the evening walk along the busy street in Bukit Bintang over to some of the best shopping Malls including Pavilion, Farenheit88, Sephora and Berjaya Times Square. Bukit Bintang has a number of Halal restaurants serving Indian, Iranian, Arabic and Middle Eastern Food. Other notable Malls include Suria Shopping Malla in KLCC and Mid-City Malls in the Mid-Valley Area of Kuala Lumpur.
Next day book a tour to Genting Highlands to experience excellent shopping at Fashion Outlets near Ghotong Jaya. Check the list of upcoming events in Genting Highlands Resorts ( Arena of the Stars), enjoy the theme parks, casinos and a memorable ride on Awana Skyways Cable Car.
What are some of the best things to do in Langkawi?
Langkawi Island is a Duty-Free location with amazing natural beauty. Day tours to the Islands around Langkawi are a very popular way of exploring the Kilim National Forest and pristine beaches on one of the 99 islands surrounding Langkawi. For a more romantic experience in Langkawi book a sunset cruise to enjoy scenic views of the setting sun over the Andaman Sea. Sunset dinner cruises can be booked from the Pantai Cenang area. Alternatively, the tours can also be organized by your hotel help desk.
The Northern Part of Langkawi has some of the best resorts for honeymooners. St. Regis, Westin Langkawi, Dana and Andaman Langkawi are some of the top-end resorts with private beaches and amazing facilities. Here are some pictures from Dana Langkawi and Andaman Langkawi.

Mid-range accommodation is available near Kuah Village as well as Pantai Cenang which are more commercial parts of the Island.
Flights from Langkawi can be booked from KL. The flight time is less than an hour. Alternatively, you can catch a bus to Kuala Perlis and transfer to the ferry which takes 1.5 hours to reach Langkawi. An early morning flight from Kuala Lumpur can save time you will be able to utilize your day in Langkawi more efficiently.
Itinerary 2: Kuala Lumpur, Port Dickson and Melaka ( 5 nights)
The second Itinerary takes you to some amazing locations south of Kuala Lumpur. 3 Nights in Kuala Lumpur will give you enough time to experience great shopping, sightseeing and dining in world-class restaurants.
Your next stop along the way is the coastal town of Port Dickson. Port Dickson is halfway between Melaka and Kuala Lumpur City. The coastal area of Port Dickson is lined with high-end resorts including Lexis Hibiscus Port Dickson, Grand Lexis Port Dickson, Klana Beach Resort Port Dickson and Avilion Port Dickson.
Most people who visit Port Dickson tend to enjoy indoor facilities including water sports and private beaches. Tanjung Tuan Beach and Forest Reserve offer outdoor activities for visitors. Other beaches include Teluk Kemang Beach and Purname Beach. Most resorts have a number of interesting activities for families and children on the premises including inflated Islands and archery.

Melaka city is located at 30 minutes drive from Port Dickson and makes a great location for a day tour. Visit great historical locations in Melaka near Jonker Walk. A UNESCO-declared city, Melaka has a number of well-preserved buildings from the colonial era. Some of the old structure like Fort Famosa dates back to the 1500s. Enjoy exotic Nyonya cuisine, great shopping and historical Museums will fill up your day with plenty of interesting things to do. Read more about Melaka {fas fa-link }

Itinerary 3: Kuala Lumpur, Ipoh and Cameroon Highlands
This travel itinerary takes you through some of the best hill resorts in Malaysia with beautiful landscapes, cool weather and tropical jungle adventure. Cameroon Highlands is located at approximately 3 hours driving distance from Kuala Lumpur.
Cameroon Highlands is popular for tea plantations and tropical fruit. Some of the unique butterflies and insects in Malaysia are found in the Cameroon Highlands. There are plenty of resorts in various price ranges.
Cameroon Highlands Resort
For an exotic experience, Cameroon Highlands Resort offers a unique relaxing experience with excellent spa treatments, quality accommodations a beautifully restored historic architecture offering a mix of British Colonial design and Asian designs. Enjoy local tours, golf, tea rooms and plenty of other activities to keep you occupied for your honeymoon visits.
Ipoh is another historical city with amazing architecture and plenty of places to enjoy the amazing local cuisine. Ipoh has seen high time in the 1920s during tin mining in the region. The prevalence of inherited wealth is evident in fine-dining restaurants, uptown nightclubs and quality hotels and resorts.
If you plan to follow this itinerary plan 1 night in Cameroon Highlands, two nights in Ipoh and two nights in Kuala Lumpur.
Itinerary 4: Kuala Lumpur – Kuala Terengganu – Perhentian Islands
This itinerary includes 2 night and 3 day trip to one of the best Island locations in the Eastern Part of Malaysia. The best time to visit Perhentian Islands is during the dry season between March and November.
Perhentian Island Packages are available with a number of tour operators across Malaysia. Make sure to read the reviews on the website before booking. There are two main Islands on Perhentian Besar and Perhentian Kecil. Perhentian Besar has a number of high-end resorts suited for a honeymoon or a romantic break. Perhentian Kecil is suited for backpackers and the younger crowd travelling in groups.
Bubu Villas and Resorts offer amazing facilities for a memorable holiday on the Islands. You can enjoy a wide range of activities including snorkelling, secret beach picnics, sunset cruises and spa treatments at this amazing Island destination.
Book in advance, as these places are very popular with local Malaysian crowds and attract large crowds over school holidays and public holidays.
Perhentian Islands can be reached by ferry from Kuala Besut Jetty which is accessible from Johor Bharu as well as Kuala Terengganu. If you book with the resorts, a van transfer from the airport and ferry transfers can be organized as a part of the package.
Bubu Villas and Resorts in Perhentian Besar is a great place for a romantic break
The package prices are normally a lot cheaper than booking yourself online. Therefore, explore some local operators and make sure to include airport transfers in the package.
The package break also includes snorkel hire, local tours, breakfast and meals at the resort
The average price for an Island Package holiday can vary from RM 180/ night to RM 500 / night for a couple based on the type of Resort and high-season or low-season.
Kuala Terengganu is a great city for a laid-back holiday break. Most people use Kuala Terengganu as a stopover for Radang Island and Perhentian Islands. However, I have explored this location extensively and absolutely like the laid-back and chilled atmosphere of this historical city of Malaysia.
Here is a suggested breakdown of this itinerary
1. Arrive in Kuala Lumpur in the morning and catch a connecting flight to Kota Bharu or Kuala Terengganu from KLIA2
2. Spend two nights in Perhentian Islands
3. Spend one night in Kuala Terengganu
4. Catch a flight back to Kuala Lumpur. Enjoy shopping, local restaurants and places of interest before catching a flight back to Pakistan.
